Illegal Dreamers 꿈꾸는 불법자들
This project reveals the untold stories of seven individuals who gained legal residency through the UK's Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) policy. Originally granted after 14 years of undocumented stay—now extended to 20—ILR reflects a complex intersection of immigration control and human rights, yet remains unfamiliar to many in the UK.
Using transparency and reverse printing techniques, the visual language emphasizes duality and visibility—only fully revealed through light—amplifying personal narratives often overlooked. Interviews with legal experts and ILR recipients were conducted anonymously. Each participant was asked identical questions and responded through writing or drawing, offering personal insight beyond statistics. First published in English in 2013, the project was reissued in Korean by Propaganda Press in 2024, aiming to broaden awareness and invite deeper reflection on migration and human rights.
